Potosí, situated at more than 4.000 m. above sea level, the town of Potosí is one of the highest in the world. One of the great attractions is the legendary Cerro Rico de Potosí, or mining mountain, which dominates the town and its mines. The hill has more than 5.000 entrances to the mines and tunnels, a lot of them interconnected.

Royal Mint The silver led to the creation of the Casa de la Moneda Real (Royal Mint), which is undoubtedly the most important building in civil colonial architecture in Latin America. Construction probably started in 1750 and continued for 23 years at enormous cost.
The Uyuni Dry Salt Lake Spreading over 12.000 square kilometers it is considered to be the world’s largest salt flat. With the mountains and the sky as its lonely frontiers, images suspended by solar radiation, mirages and optical illusions caused by crystallization on the ground and other amazing phenomena can be seen.
The Multi-coloured Lagoon The Laguna Colorada is one of the great wonders of Bolivian nature. It is a multicoloured lagoon, where reddish tones, caused by fine layers of sediment on the surface and the natural residues of several types of plant life. It is also known as “The nest of the Andes” as it is home to over 3.000 flamingos of three different species.
The Green Lagoon Located in the extreme south of the Lípez desert, it is landscape suggestive of the end of the world. It is divided into two bodies of water, and owes its extraordinary colour to its high magnesium content.
